About VideoShrink
Smaller videos, without an upload queue
VideoShrink is a local-first video compressor built for people who want a smaller delivery copy without sending the source to a remote compression service.
What we are building
The working compressor uses browser media capabilities first and a compatibility engine when necessary. It exposes the practical controls—quality, target size, resolution, frame rate, audio and codec—without pretending every video can reach the same size at the same quality.
Why local processing
Standard jobs stay on your device. That removes upload time and means VideoShrink does not need a retention window for your video content. Browser processing has real limits, so long, uncommon or very high-resolution sources may take longer or work better on a desktop.
How guidance is written
Recommendations are starting points, not guarantees. We distinguish containers from codecs, describe quality trade-offs, and update destination-specific guidance when product requirements change.
